Seiko's story began in 1881 with Kintaro Hattori opening a watch and clock repair shop in Tokyo. This passion for precision led him to establish Seikosha, a factory producing wall clocks, in 1892. Recognizing the growing demand for portable timekeeping, Hattori created Seiko's first pocket watch, the Timekeeper, in 1895. This paved the way for Japan's first wristwatch, the Laurel in 1913.
Seiko's commitment to precision and quality was further solidified in 1964 when they served as the Official Timer for the Tokyo Olympics, providing over 1,200 timing devices for the competition. Seiko remains a champion in the watch industry to this day, with a wide range of reliable and high-performance timepieces. From automatic movements and day-date displays to water resistance and durable designs, Seiko caters to watch enthusiasts seeking both style and functionality.
