Driven by a deep connection to the Philippines, Kanya was created by a founder with Spanish roots, Bea Roxas. The name itself, Kanya, meaning "hers" or "his" in Tagalog, reflects this connection. It embodies the spirit of the archipelago, the very place that inspires her mission-driven business.
Based on a traditional method, Kanya turns bagasse—a byproduct of sugarcane—into a cutting-edge, sustainable, organic textile. The sugarcane residue is extracted using an artisanal technology, producing a clean fiber that is hand-spun into thread and then woven with cotton from the area. The end product is a natural and environmentally friendly material that serves as the basis for all of Kanya's products.
