Tell us what you like about perfumes in general.

Marj: I just really love to smell good! Perfumes are also powerful in a way that they trigger memories that take me back to a specific moment in time.

How do you decide on the perfume you purchase?

Marj: Best to test the scent on the skin to make sure it reacts well to your body chemistry.

Tell us something about your current scent.

Marj: Dolce&Gabbana's Dolce Lily is a fruity floral scent that combines pink lily flowers, passionfruit and musks.

What do you love most about this? Would you consider this an everyday wear or do you save it on special occasions?

Marj: The scent just screams fun and feminine. It’s also great for summer because it smells like a sweet tropical drink. Bright and very juicy. I love that the campaign was also set in Portofino - it’s one of my dream places to visit!

This is more of an everyday scent for me although I did wear this at a friend’s wedding, so I guess it can be both!

What makes this perfume stand out from the other perfumes available?

Marj: It’s not your typical fruity floral scent because base notes actually contain musks and sandalwood which gives it more depth.

NICOLE MORALES

Beauty Journalist and Entrepreneur

About Nicole

After being a mainstay in publishing and media for over 14 years, Nicole Morales founded The Beauty Edit, a social-first platform that focuses on luxury beauty. It covers everything in the beauty industry, including makeup, skin care, hair care, nail care, derm treatments, and the all the key leaders and experts.

Apart from being a beauty expert, Nicole likewise enjoys reading glossies, traveling, exploring dining destinations around the world with her husband.

Tell us what you like about perfumes in general.

Nicole: I was a fragrance girl before I was a beauty girl, and I’ve been into perfumes and collecting them since I was in grade school. I shop across fragrance segments, from high street and designer to niche, and this has allowed me a better appreciation of the art of perfumery. I love how the power of scent is undeniable, bringing us back to favorite moments and taking us to new places and experiences. It can conjure the most vivid of memories and remind us of nearly forgotten details of places, people, and milestones. And because it's so attached to memories, it means we can use it to earmark new moments as much as use it to take ourselves back in time.

How do you decide on the perfume you purchase?

Nicole: I’m a beauty journalist and editor who is also a self confessed "fraghead" with a varied collection of perfumes. I usually purchase from reputable fragrance houses and designer brands, and I find myself having more than one perfume of brands that work for me and my taste. Years of buying perfumes has allowed me to understand the DNA of many fragrance houses, and this helps me decide on my next purchase and even blind buys. My taste has evolved over the years and I usually get phases when it comes to favorites. There was a stretch I was mostly in search of youthful rose perfumes before I delved into the more sweet and gourmand picks. I had also a fruity, citrus phase. I think what I value most when buying perfumes are quality, composition, and complexity as much as the notes and accords that appeal to me. There is always beauty in a well thought out and composed perfume–it will always tell the story the perfumer wants to convey without saying much words but truly from the scent and the bottle.

Tell us something about your current scent.

Nicole: The most recent bottle I got is the new Chloé Nomade Eau de Parfum Naturelle. I have the first and original Chloé Nomade too, an earlier favorite, and so I could really tell how the line has evolved with this 2022 launch. I’d say it’s an entirely different scent. It opens quite bright with bergamot, till jasmine and vanilla take over like a warm breeze on the dunes. It has a delicious, addictive base that lingers all day or through the night if you wear it to bed.

What do you love most about this? Would you consider this an everyday wear or do you save it on special occasions?

Nicole: This is a unique take on jasmine that’s sweetened with vanilla–a true ‘solar gourmand jasmine,’ as the brand describes it. It’s really a rediscovery, if not a newfound appreciation for jasmine. I love how it’s still a sophisticated, sweet fragrance but also a much warmer, rounder, softer version of the original, which you could imagine as you look through its notes: dates and mirabelle; jasmine and freesia; and vanilla, sandalwood, and oakmoss. It’s solar enough for day, but warm enough for evening so it’s really something for every day.

What makes this perfume stand out from the other perfumes available?

Nicole: Jasmine is nothing new in perfumery, so to be able to create a jasmine centered fragrance that’s unique in composition, not overpowering, and could please even user who don’t typically use jasmine like me is both impressive and commendable. This new Nomade is also made from 100% natural origin, vegan ingredients–taking the lead in this new, cleaner direction for fragrances.

AGOO AZCUNA-BENGZON

Beauty Expert, Wife, Mother, Entrepreneur

About Agoo

Agoo Azcuna-Bengzon is undeniably one of the most recognizable names and faces in the beauty industry. For over two decades, she has been a household name for any and all things related to beauty, having been the Beauty Editor to eventual Beauty Director of Summit Publishing, overseeing and training several beauty editors of the media company’s many titles from 2000 to 2015. After that, she worked as Beauty Expert for Avon and Unilever.

Currently, she works with Belo Medical Group as Guest Editor for their website www.belomed.com, while also flourishing her business @bejeweledbyagoo, where she sells uniquely designed accessories such as rings and hairbands. Of course, her proudest and most important role in life is being a wife and a mother to two boys who are now 21 and 15.

Tell us what you like about perfumes in general.

Agoo:I’ve always believed that perfume has the ability to tell a story or encapsulate one. Scents carry memories and emotions with them because often times, we remember a scent we wore during a particularly precious time in our lives—a wedding, an anniversary, a destination… the list goes on. This is why I place so much importance on perfume. It has become part of my every day life.

How do you decide on the perfume you purchase?

Agoo: A lot of it is just gut feel and initial impressions. I usually know when I like a perfume just by the way it registers when I take that first whiff. There are those rare moments when a scent will grow on me but often times, it’s love at first whiff.

Tell us something about your current scent.

Agoo: My current scent is diptyque’s Fleur de Peau.

What do you love most about this? Would you consider this an everyday wear or do you save it on special occasions?

Agoo: First of all, I love ANYTHING from diptyque. But I found "The One", diptyque’s Fleur de Peau. Notes like musk, iris, ambrette, and pink peppercorns make this the perfect unisex fragrance that can work for both day and night as it manages to transform effortlessly from casual to elegant.

I like to save it for special occasions. For casual days, I usually wear lighter scents.

What makes this perfume stand out from the other perfumes available?

Agoo: Quality is so important. If the brand is reputable, you know that the scent will last the entire day and won’t ever turn sour on you. The ingredients also speak for themselves. You’ll know when a perfume is of a higher caliber just by the way the notes hit your olfactory sensors because it’s never ever too strong or offensive—there’s a smoothness to the way the wearer will interact with it.
