Bon Parfumeur Paris: Color-Coded Scents

Tired of endlessly searching for your signature scent? Trying one perfume after another without feeling like it's the fragrance made for you? The seemingly lifelong quest for the one leaves our counters littered with half-used bottles and our body's misted with half-satisfying scents.

The golden rule when it comes to choosing the right perfume? Opt for a fragrance that gives a glimpse of your multi-faceted personality, without revealing everything. Much more than a mere part of a daily beauty routine, wearing perfume makes you feel confident throughout the day: you don’t want to make any mistakes! Choosing a scent that reveals who you are while enabling you to retain an air of mystery.

Introducing Bon Parfumeur Paris.

It isn’t often that a new independent perfume brand comes along with such a strong concept and design as Bon Parfumeur. Developed by former digital director of French beauty brand Yves Rocher Ludovic Bonneton, the artistic Parisian perfume label launched with 15 fragrances, numbered from 001 to 901, their labels color-coded by fragrance family.

The scents are designed to be mixed and matched, and each is simply identified by three key ingredients rather than by poetic names: Perfume 201, for example, is described as Pomme verte / Muguet / Poire and 402 is Vanille / Caramel / Santal.

Bonneton dreamed of bringing together all olfactory families. Fragrances allowing everyone to reinvent themselves on a daily basis. In practical bottles, refined, beautiful and simple at the same time.

The avowed goal: to offer a range of perfumes developed freely by passionate creators, in order to decompartmentalize the world of perfumery, by combining quality, pleasure and relaxation. An ambition guided by the sole desire to offer intelligent fragrances of ultimate quality to everyone. Entering the world of Bon Parfumeur means opening the doors to unlimited olfactory freedom.

The brand’s conceptual clarity extends to the labels and packaging, designed by former Sonia Rykiel creative director Ronan Teissèdre, while the scents themselves have been developed by six young perfumers: Nathalie Koobus, Philippe Romano, Karine Dubreuil-Sereni, Corinne Cachen, Alexandra Monet, and Benoit Lapouza.

In perfumery, olfactory families can be used to categorize different scents. The good news is that, with Bon Parfumeur, each family corresponds to a different mood: perfect for finding a fragrance that suits your personality.

The first formula was created by Jean-Marie Farina, a famous perfumer of the 18th century. It all began when the Italian perfumer followed his brother to Cologne. His first creation there was made of citrus notes and named after the German city. Whether it was Empress Elizabeth, Napoleon, or all the other perfume addicts, they all fell under the spell of the famous Cologne.

Bon Parfumeur honors Jean-Marie's creation—lemony, light, tangy and simply perfect for summer, the Colognes revisit the blend of the historic "nose", with a hit and French touch and insolence on top.

You can find the sparkle of bergamot and the sweetness of orange blossom in the 001. For a fresh, subtle and sweet fragrance, the white flowers crowned by orange blossom in 002 will offer you the perfect blend for a sunny summer. If you prefer a slightly more vegetal scent, the 003 will offer you freshness and lightness with its mentholated notes blended with green tea notes.

Subtle and gentle, the floral notes of lily, jasmine, rose and lilac create romantic and intense scents. With their unique combinations, floral fragrances offer limitless possibilities.

The brand's floral fragrances will transport you to captivating rose gardens or a field of mimosas. Travel to the other side of the world as you enjoy the exotic scents of tiaré flower and jasmine. Bon Parfumeur's floral creations are subtle and sensual. Thes perfumes evoke the pleasure of seeing spring’s return and peaceful poolside holidays, relaxing in the warming sunshine.

101 is a rose perfume made of Damask rose absolute and essence with fresh and floral notes. For something more of a refreshing citrus explosion, 102 builds around the aroma of the green tea and mimosa, and reveals a touch of jasmine. For a sunny cocktail and soft musk scent, 103 opens up with a light, fresh bergamot and its heart reveals its floral character with notes of jasmine and heliotrope.

The fruity perfumes are very appreciated for their well-known tonalities. Easy to wear in any circumstance, the fruity perfumes are perfect for an everyday perfume. Although innocent, the fruits bring an attractive and ultra greedy side. In the same spirit as the floral perfumes, we distinguish two types of fruity perfumes. Those with a single fruit note—simple and clearly identifiable—and those with several fruity notes—more accomplished olfactively because they are faceted.

Bon Parfumeur's fragrances are deliberately gender neutral and faceted to offer a result that is always precise and surprising.

Spicy amber perfumes boast elegant and mellow notes.

Be ready to be head-over-heels for sandalwood, the captivating and creamy woody scent of eau de parfum 301. Chili pepper has a hypnotic fragrance and pink berries reveal delicately peppery notes. If you are a fan of iris, its rich and powdery scent is elegant and long-lasting. It’s a perfume in itself.

For fans of cardamom and its fresh, spicy accents, you're sure to enjoy eau de parfum 302! With its delicate, warm and enveloping scent, amber is a perfect match for these spices. A suitably sized perfume for every occasion.

Oriental or amber perfumes generally have a very pronounced base note. This one can be soft and deep, sometimes spicy or sweet, greedy... In any case, it always develops a sensuality specific to the Orient.

They are heady, intense, and deeply sensual. Endowed with a strong character, they leave behind them a warm and spicy trail, all in sensuality. We often find in oriental perfumes strong scents such as amber notes, patchouli perfumes, or vanilla perfumes. Bon Parfumeur developed vanilla-scented orientals, soft and powerful at the same time. It is the sign of an extreme sensuality. The scent is slightly spicy, sweet, even greedy. They are ideal perfumes to put yourself forward.

Marshmallow, ripe fruits, chocolate and other mouthwatering notes with honeyed sugary facets belong to this category. They bring delicious tastes into the realm of fragrances. It all began in 1992 with Mugler’s Angel, which introduced the word “gourmand” to fragrance descriptions.

The gourmand perfumes are real Proustian madeleines, reminding people of their childhood memories and the sweets they used to buy. Captivating scents and iconic raw materials, such as patchouli with its timeless fragrance, give these classic perfumes strength and character. Strong, intense licorice, praline, and a touch of caramelized sugar: it’s difficult to resist.

Elegant, warm and opulent, woody notes have become key to our favorite perfumers. They can be found in many of Bon Parfumeur's compositions.

Indeed, woody notes have become essential in perfumery. They come from wood or plants, such as patchouli (shrub) and vetiver (root). Perfumers usually divide woody notes into six different categories: foamy, amber, wet, smoky, resinous, and dry woods. To be honest, the love affair between wood and perfumes does not date from yesterday ... Since the antiquity, people used to burn wooden chips and resins to honor and pray to Gods ... Everything started there.

At Bon Parfumeur you can find intense woody notes in our eaux de parfum 601, 602, and 603.

Aromatic perfumes include all compositions with aromatic herbs such as lavender, rosemary, thyme, eucalyptus, mint, mugwort. This family can also be called mugwort. Aromatic notes are used in perfumery in small quantities because they are very powerful and characteristic. They give a touch of madness to the fragrances most often at the top of the perfumes.

Bon Parfumeur likes to say of aromatic perfumes that they are halfway between woody perfumes and colognes perfumes. The aromatic family includes lemon, mentholated, camphorated, aniseed, and lavender notes. The eau de parfum eucalyptus 701 is a very good choice to discover aromatic perfumes with its eucalyptus and coriander notes, it will give you a real funky side.

Essentially composed of citrus fruits such as grapefruit, lemon and mandarin, this family of fragrances is ideal for an everyday boost.

The aquatic perfumes plunge you into a world of marine scents in which the sea spray transports you across the ocean blue with the wind in your hair. The breeze intensifies, creating swirling scents of spices, pink pepper, and nutmeg. Yes to marine notes, but with character and staying power.

Aquatic perfumes also feature the morning dew, with sweet and light notes for a feeling of freshness. Peony and lotus flower offer a gentle caress. It’s a far cry from sea spray in your hair! These are very different yet very refreshing scents. Based on citrus essences, aquatic fragrances like eau de parfum 801 and its sea spray, cedar, and grapefruit are perfect for lively people with sparkling personalities
