Words and Art by Nana Valdueza
Liberation to Age
In time, our words will wisen, our hearts capable, and our beauty made invincible. Age as a process fears us. To such, the fear of aging and losing, and of being forgotten; turns them to turn a blind eye in a beautiful journey of life. This generation, we are grateful to women who have began shedding the sociophobic topic of aging as a liberation to self and others.
Here are a few anecdotes from the likes of award-winning actress and activist Jane Fonda, American feminist Gloria Steinem, and to the talented artist and philanthropist Dolly Parton, all of whom age with enthusiasm; we are now circled with empowering women.
It is time to remember that age is just a number. Every year is a new opportunity to gain new knowledge, enrich lives, share realizations. Maybe for some, it's finally time to embrace going gray. This is a piece to inspire more women to accept that "salt-and-pepper" hair and to live life without missing a beat.

“Aging is relative. If people say that I look young for my age, it’s because I feel like I’m a newbie. I feel like I’m just beginning, just learning how to do things. It’s not what I expected at all.”
— Jane Fonda

“I don’t think about my life in terms of numbers. First of all, I ain’t never gonna be old because I ain’t got time to be old. I can’t stop long enough to grow old.”
— Dolly Parton

Age like fine wine and be liberated from the atrocities of age and aging. Care for yourself without being guilty and start celebrating life for what you have become. Be unapologetic and age with content and grace.
