Joyous Ease

Words by Timothy Diao

Not everyone is suited to wear sweatpants and loungewear 24/7—even in this year-long lockdown. And though comfort and ease have been a priority, we've placed fun and fashionable sensibilities at the back burner for far too long. It's time to bring back the glamour.

It doesn't matter if we're working in front of our computers from 9 to 5, spending the weekend doing meal preps and some homemaking, or even entertaining via Zoom, we're making it an occasion to bust out the prints, volume, and style.

From modern color blocking to contrasting prints, and even chic whites in voluminous silhouettes, live your summer fantasy with joyous ease—even when staying safely indoors.

tropical disco

We're big fans of the 70s and 80s: dancing until dawn to Diana Ross and Sister Sledge, swooning on the great works of Basquiat and Warhol, and taking cues from the timeless stylings of Bianca Jagger and Jane Fonda. The decade has contributed so much to our sartorial musings and we're living it up this summer. The best way to "Toot toot hey beep beep!" our way into the season? Pairing a billowy blouse with satin palazzo pants, and stepping into chic platform heels.

Print cocktail

There's something glorious and powerful about a woman that could dawn an outfit built on loud prints, contrasting hues, and distinct silhouettes. This season, we're living for looks that can turn heads and bring a smile to our faces. Sip on your favorite cocktail as the soft warm breeze moves through your ruffled linen blouse paired with a graphic floral shirt dress, and finished with a pair of silver mules for a beautiful summer afternoon by the pool.

big bright volume

Evening wear as casual wear? We're into it. There's no reason to hold back on wearing what gives you joy. If busting out the ruffled sleeves and crepe pants makes you feel your oats, then go for it. When thinking about how to style this look, we're opting to pair a floral jacquard Criselda blouse worn on top of a draped white jumpsuit from Adolfo Dominguez. And don't worry, you don't need an occasion or a reason to dress up.

beyond the trenches

There's nothing like a timeless trench dress, but we're bringing up the ante by pairing this sleeveless kate spade new york number with a cotton floral dress from the same label underneath. The tailored trench, cinched and worn on top of this soft floral piece makes for an interesting silhouette and dimension. It can easily be translated into a different look with a beige linen wrap jacket and an A-line floral cotton piece as well.

mono blocking

Color-blocking is nothing new to fashion, but this season we're making it interesting by pairing the same color in different hues (or a simple pop of contrast) and textures to create a distinct look. Move with ease and dress up like you have something to celebrate in this head-to-toe Ricardo Preto outfit: a cobalt blue blouse with burgundy pleat details, a coach's jacket in the same hue as the blouse's details, and a pleated metallic lamé skirt.
